This is a Hastings-based company who design and manufacture products and applications for the scientific and research communities. They’re part of an international group with offices and warehouses all over the world and need an EMEIA PED Service Engineer.

Overview of Responsibilities:

Service standard and custom our client’s products, sub-assemblies and deposition systems. Upgrade and service equipment in the field, training customers on the use of equipment, whilst continuously working to improve customer service.

Fault identification and maintenance of equipment both in the factory and at customer sites, demonstrating mechanical, electrical and software troubleshooting expertise and strong customer support. Assist with quotations for system upgrades, scheduling service visits, project management and managing the maintenance service database.

Key Job Elements:

  • Troubleshooting, installation, maintenance and repair of designated equipment
  • Completing preventative maintenance and field modifications
  • Daily interaction with customers with service enquiries via phone, email and video-conferencing
  • Offer exemplary customer service, including maintaining customer relationships and ensuring repeat customers by upselling products and services and taking care of any customer concerns or complaints both professionally and in a timely manner
  • Regular attendance to customer sites to perform service work
  • Regular domestic and/or international travel
  • Service products, including mechanical, electrical and software systems
  • Examine warranty claims, handle customer returns and exchanges
  • Maintain daily communications with customers to ensure resolution and customer satisfaction
  • Display extensive working knowledge of vacuum industry standards and practices, including product details and company services offered
  • Interact with other departments (e.g.; Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing and Material Control) to ensure timely delivery, service or resolution to optimize production and process improvement activity
  • Training of customers on technical subjects (e.g. software, hardware)
  • Understand administrative tasks such as Health &Safety, risk assessments, service report requirements and completion of service
  • Maintain a strong understanding of vacuum technology and thin film deposition techniques and processes
  • Maintain a strong understanding of software packages and controls related to motion control, deposition source controller programs and power supplies
  • Perform work in a logical organised manner, whilst maintaining a high level of quality workmanship and utalising internal documentation to ensure all work is correctly logged
  • Understand and comply with the work instructions, quality and codes of conduct policies and regulatory requirements at all times
  • Complete administration in a timely and accurate manner
  • Use service database to track and maintain service records
  • Work to company values of SPIRIT
  • Meeting Health and Human services, Environmental Health and Safety and/or all other applicable regulatory requirements
  • Recognise and take appropriate action where customer satisfaction is compromised, or contractual obligations are unlikely to be met
  • Clean and maintain work area

Qualifications:

Required

  • HNC/HND in Electronics or Engineering discipline
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to challenging and/or changing situations
  • Highly organised and self-motivated
  • Able to work independently or part of a team
  • Comfortable in a client facing role
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electro-mechanical, and/or electronic equipment
  • Experience troubleshooting and responding to customer concerns
  • Good communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Strong decision making, problem resolution and creative thinking skills
  • Positive mental attitude
  • Proficient level of computer skills including MS Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Possess a valid and current driver’s license
  • Adapt to new software programs and become proficient in their operation

Preferred

  • Strong supervision experience
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience with scientific vacuum equipment
