They are looking for a Junior Payroll Advisor (Level 3 Apprenticeship) to join their team.

To gain experience of working within a payroll provider with SME clients and as being part of an outsourced payroll function for various firms of Accountants.


  • Time sheets
  • Starters and leavers
  • Year end processing
  • Processing payrolls (with supervision) for direct clients
  • Processing payrolls (with supervision) as part of outsourced team for Accountants
  • Submission of data to HMRC
  • Collation of data for preparation of P11Ds
  • Preparation of reporting for clients in excel
  • Preparation of journals for clients to post payroll costs into ledgers
  • Working towards having own portfolio of clients


  • Maintain client files to ensure all information current
  • Handle client enquiries
  • Answer telephones
  • Respond to emails
  • Collate and submit data to pension providers
  • Collate and submit data to HMRC
  • Processing requests from clients
  • Collating information as and when required by client
  • Set up new client files and ensure all relevant information obtained
  • Anti Money Laundering compliance duties
  • Forward notes for relevant events
  • Archiving and filing
  • Maintain and update contacts database


  • Writing content for articles relevant to payroll
  • Processing purchase ledger transactions on behalf of one of our clients
  • Development of online practice management system including workflows
  • Attendance at networking events

Key skills & competency requirements:

  • Strong Excel skills are essential.
  • Good Outlook and Word skills desirable
  • Experience with Sage, Moneysoft, Xero, Clearbooks, FreeAgent and QuickBoooks payroll packages desirable
  • Flexibility with hours during peak periods of work is essential.
